Keep in mind that the pusher can also feed you dead pushes, and kill the next ball. There is a lot varation inbetween styles.

I push with my backhand rubber(torrent). Very good for pushes flicks, go long/short and vary amount of spin on ball waiting for high ball to put away. At our ability works every time.

Would you classify a Pips-Out Penhold Pusher-Pickhitter in the same category as the above?

At the Maine State Closed Championship, I watched a US1700 POPPP outduel a conservative 2 winged control looper of a level above (high 1900's). He kept the looper close to the table by pushing everything (including topspin openers), and then would flat smash when given an opening. While the looper can fish/retrieve/lob against other loopers and topspin players, he could not handle the flat smash, angles and ferocity of the POPPP attacks. I can't be certain, but I believe that the POPPP player would draw the looper into the table before attacking.

What was interesting to note, was that an 1800 All-Around player used a mix of AGGRESSIVE offense/defense, pushing/looping and flat smashing to beat the POPPP player. Unlike the above looper, this player took some risks attacking, and prevented the POPPP attacks.
