When I start to miss a few shots, I get way too conservative and go into "safe shot mode". Like you said, once you fall back into that style of play, it's really difficult to get out of that way of playing. Usually, for me it involves losing a match that I shouldn't, which gets me mad at myself and gets me to start playing more aggressively again. Ah, the danger of the long pips for the person playing with them. They're a valuable asset if you stay active, but if they cause you to become completely passive they can hurt your game.

I try to play my own game whenever possible which is rather agressive.. whether I'm pissed or not, just getting pissed up can mess up my technique some so I'll just walk away from the table for a couple of sec and after I'm usually fine. Just control your nerves :)

Yes I know what you mean speedplay... after a few great shots you feel like you're in the zone.... and can't miss... so you go for everything... Some days this works... you just can't miss (they are great days!!!), but often it results in your downfall... half the game is in the mind, isn't it?

I think the more you play, the quicker you realise this, and the better you can adjust in time...

I've fallen into this a couple of times.

I suggest that when you do fall into this zone, get slightly more aggressive. Open up on your loops slightly harder than you usually would, try and put more backspin on your chops, etc. You can usually get away with it.

When you're in the 'zone' it feels like you can get away with anything...
