How to properly add weight to a table tennis bat? (let's say i want a particular very light blade, but i also want stability).

Yep, choosing rubbers of an appropriate weight works...although I'm not convince that rubbers of different sponge weights can identical performance....

had a coach tell me this evening that my blade is too head heavy mainly to do with wieght of rubbers on the oversized blade and it having a very light handle this makes sense as the blade was designed for hardbat
and i now have 2 rubbers both with 2.2 mm sponges

I remember reading somewhere that they sell weighted edge tape. It only adds about 10 grams for the whole strip, but it could still make the balance feel different.

If you increase weight via heavier rubbers or edge tape, your bound to end up with a headheavy racket. I've heard the proper way is to evenly distribute the weight. i.e slightly heavier rubbers with lead inserts in the handle.
