Hello, I've been playing table tennis since I was 5. I've left it for about 3 years due to an injury and the fear of coming back, I would like to ask you about serves and how to get the most spin possible.

Please help. :Chop:

A Youtube video would be even more helpful

Thanks :)

In general for learning stuff, try these websites: http://www.pingskills.com/ (this one has videos!)

http://tabletennis.about.com/ (lots of great articles)

Great stuff on both.

Spin is generated with at least three different factors: 1) The speed of your stroke; 2) The brushing of the rubber against the ball; and 3) The tackiness of your rubber.

I'm no authority and this is just based on my experience and research. No doubt others will add more to this. Anyway, to explain each factor a little more ...

1) The speed of your stroke is dependant on your swing, which is generally the motion of generated by your forearm pivoting from the elbow. To generate even more force you can start to add in some wrist action.

2) The brushing of the rubber against the ball will determine the type and quality of the spin. Generally, you want to just lightly contact the ball for maximum spin.

3) Tackiness is the rubber's ability to produce friction between itself and the ball. Most good quality rubbers will do this, but make sure you keep your rubber clean and in good condition.

For me, the equipment plays a role.

BTF Ortho is an excellent spinny sp but for service, same stroke, inverted max Inspirit Quattro (black) produces way more spin!

A flexy paddle too produces lots of spin, less speed.Or course others can be more detailed and descriptive.
