Hi guys.
I am relatively new to tt, and my play style is veering towards hitting, but I really want to improve my loops and counterhits, especially on my backhand. What would be a good way to do that?

Cheers,
RJ

1- get a coach

2- practice drills

3- check out 'pingskills' clips on Youtube

4- check out clips of top level players on Youtube

Agree with carbon there. But here are a few tips as I myself am trying to work on my bh loops -

start with keeping your wrist firm - the biggest cause of inconsistency in bh loop is a floppy wrist. Keep it in the same position as you do when you counterhit. You will lose power this way but gain more than enough consistency after some drilling. Keep elbow in front of your waist. Not by your side.

Use shoulder and waist rotation to gain power after sometime.

Ensure you are in the perfect position for every single loop that you make. If you do everything right and still miss the loop, be okay with that and drill more. If you do something wrong and make the loop, be hard on yourself.

Once you are making 90+% loops, start adding power by keeping wrist slightly loose. Dont try to "flick". Just let it add to the natural motion of the arm.

the hardest thing is actually doing your new style in a game, because we all revert back
so you must play some games where results don't matter
