Although I'm certainly no expert with this shot, I'd love to master it as it's so effective, and feels great when you get it right!

I'd love to hear some tips about how it works for you, and adjustment to your stroke made it more effective or consistant for you.

I love the way this guy chop-blocks, look at his shots at around 0.57:

Note that he tends to take the ball a little later than the usual chop-block, which is normally taken right off the bounce. His short and sharp chop seems to be slightly sideways as well... not sure if that's intentional. Seems to work really well though!

Here are SeppesTT's (Sebastian Sauer) tips for the Chop-block from another thread:

Quote:
This chop-block can be played against topspin but there is a variety.

Against fast and hard topspins the movement should be fast and abruptive, against slow topspins it could be with a longer touch of the ball.

The movement should be played from up to down but this could be individual.
You could hold the racket completely vertical or a little bit open up.
The abrupt movement to take the power out of the ball should concentrate on the moment where the ball is touched. What you do before and after hitting the ball does not matter this much and only takes time.

Here is a demo from Sebastian. I'm not sure if this is classed as a chop-block, as his action seems to be upwards instead of the usual downwards action. :o

Here is another good demo, this time with cpen.

You can clearly see the short downward action when blocking. He seems to close the bat just slightly from vertical, probably because this LP is a little grippy.

This guy has amazing touch, seemingly to chop-block the ball so that it often bounces twice on the other side before it goes over the end! :o :o :o

Here is one by fellow member Variatio:

He seem to have the bat slightly open, and chops underneath with a fast forwards action.

Thanks for linking the videos haggisv!
This is my favourite one...I'll be using this one to try and work on my chop blocks!
