Yep, it's not a typo, I'm talking about a backspin loop here.

As some of you know, I love to play my big-swing topspin and sidespin loops. A few weeks back during a practice game, as I was starting up a big loop swing off a slow block, the ball was pushed much further into my body as I expect, so instead of coming around the side of the ball, I ended up coming mostly underneath it and continue to swing up like a normal loop. I tend to take the balls very late, so my opponent view would have been blocked by the table, and my big follow through was high, just like a topspin loop.
My opponent (who knows my game well) expected mostly sidespin, so he blocked with pretty much an open face bat. The look on his face when the ball hit his bat and kick down viciously down onto the table instead of up, was priceless.

This is never going to be a percentage shot, but if you want to have some fun, you should try it.

So I'm claiming the name of "Chopspin Loop". 8)

Back spin loop? That would catch opponent of guard. :P

This post remember me several unique strokes,

- Jang Song Man is notorious on utilizing sliding door to return fast loop, returning sidetopspin that bounce left.

- Another similar sample is Viktoria Pavlovich, big bh chop with U shaped motion, but sometimes catch the ball on the way up, creating topspin

- I remember a friend that stab the blade left to make the ball bounce right

Any other known unorthodox strokes to try? ;)

I know what you mean, Haggisv... I posted about this type shot a couple of months ago. It is actually very effective, although I don't plan it - it jut happens when I am out of position!

Seems a stroke oddly suited for someone playing in the "down under"

In a competition match, I have been accused of playing a push with top spin.

However, I humbly submitted that it was actually a no-spin push.
