Does anyone know of professional players from Asia who play(ed) with anti?

Thanks, MNNB. Cai Zhenhua played a blocker/looper&hitter style with anti on his backhand (maybe Friendship 804? Or meteor 835? something like that, a fast, slightly grippy anti that will hit no-spin balls), and he twiddled a lot. There is video-footage of a match in 1983 against Waldner (http://outpost81.com/Jan-Ove_Waldner_vs ... a_1983.htm), where Waldner makes a lot of mistakes because of the anti and the twiddling. Also a video against Klampar in the final of the WTTC 1981 (http://www.tennistavolovicenza.it/publi ... hp?file=41); against Guo Yuehua in 1983 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXC0Mv8ODSg).
I can't find a thing about Lin, though.
Actually, I would love to see a video with a chinese or asian chopper/attacker using anti. There is a series of chinese worldchampions vdeos (http://lucioping.altervista.org/training_videos.htm) in which nr.3 is Liang Geliang; in this video of almost an hour, probably made somewhere in the late 1980's or early 1990's (would be my guess) Liang plays with red anti on his backhand, and black inverted on his forehand, and twiddles, demonstrating a host of different strokes. Still, he is said to have used LP in has matches...

Thanks for the link Kees. It was a great clip to watch - especially the rallies against Alser. I am unaware of Liang using anti for as far as I know he used LP on his BH since the mid-70s (of course I could be wrong about this). In this clip I suspect he just picked up a bat with inverted both sides as he appears to loop with both colours. I think the 'red' rubber is actually that purple chinese stuff (PF4?) that was common in the 70's and early 80s. My guess is that the clip was made late 70s/early 80s as his hitting partner was Zhang Li who retired around '79.

I had PF4, what do you mean by purple stuff though?

Mine was a black sheet with blue sponge :( , still have it. It used to be sticky (tacky) with a hard sponge, relatively slow, could pick the ball up with it but it wouldn't hold it as long as Tackiness chop.

The 'red' sheet of PF4 in those days was purplish with dark blue sponge (Liang is using it in the clip). Once the black/red two colour rule was introduced it was no longer legal and so disappeared.

Thanks, I can't view clips atm. I suppose that makes it quite distincitve and a bit of a giveaway as to what's been used.

I remember green and blue and I've seen some brown barna, but I've never seen purple table tennis rubber. I'll have to try and google an image.

I guess it's a bit like the friendship 804 'radioactive' red colour only that's legal.
