I think the sponge on the anti does help with hitting. While you cannot hit a spinny loop with the anti, it just curves up and out, you can hit a no spin and make a little top.
I do not use a true Seemiller grip, I put the thumb on one edge of the blade and my first finger on the other edge. Like holding a slingshot. This does let me use the wrist when chopping or looping on the backhand. I find it eaiser than shakehands.
