I've got info that Air isn't legal as well, because a sponge has to be made of cellular rubber... :(

Is this an official published decision or somebody's opinion?

Isn't Air Zero sponge basically the same as Dr. Neubauer Pistol sponge?

Which isn't sold separately, is it?

Regarding official decision: "2.04.03.02 Sandwich rubber is a single layer of cellular rubber covered with a single outer layer of ordinary pimpled rubber, ..."

Pistol sponge isn't sold separately. Pistol has been around for years and I've never heard of any controversy with it.

Is it RITC HRS Cream Sponge?

zeropong has the cream and the older, harder gold in 0.6
I bet the cream would work pretty well under timeless.

Yeah, that's the rule but who says the Air Zero is not cellular enough to qualify as legal?
I doubt very much the stock timeless sponge is cellular in the strictest definition.

My 2nd league night and 3rd session overall with the new combo reinforced what I've said so far.
This is by far the best overall rubber for me although for any one situation there might be something better.

Played a 1 man about 400 points better than me. Naturally lost but won the first game and made a couple others close because the reversal off his loops definitely gave him issues(when I could touch the ball at all :) )

Played a strong but inconsistent looper who beat me this summer 3-1 and won 4-1. The slow heavy blocks off his loops drove him crazy.

Played a guy ranked lower than me who executed an excellent low-spin game plan well. Lost 4-2 because he too often worked his way to hitting a winner but not because I often missed or hit absolute sitters. I often hit a good punch/push off his push only to have it counter-driven into a corner for a winner. Need better tactics against him and to attack push better, that's usually the last shot to really come in for me after switching rubber which seems natural.

This experiment sounds really exciting. I abandoned Timeless because I felt it was too slow. Are fast pushes and punches easier to execute with 0.6 sponge?

Bulldog.

I sure think so. With stock timeless I felt like I had to 'carry' the ball vs backspin. With the thin sponge I can punch it.
I'm using an extreme slow/soft blade so it should be even sharper with a normal or hard blade.

I really should try this combo on my Aurora but I'm scared of ripping the thin sponge moving it around.
