hi folks, here is my take:

the beast is a really slow sheet..as slow as it gets..the main difference between beast and nightmare is, that nightmare has a lower trajectory making it hard for the opponent to topspin the blocks and its substantially faster. the advantage of the nightmare, due to speed, is that its easier to attack with it. beast has the advantage of substantially more control and blocks that become really short, the thicker the sponge the slower, however the trajectory goes slightly higher. the beast is also more forgiving concerning fast no spin loops and angle changes that go along with spin/no spin.

concerning spin reversal: (actually spin is never reversed, its passed on): supposedly the nightmare should be used with slower blades, whereas the beast needs something faster. i never tried the nightmare on a slower bat. the spin reversal on fast blades is very similar, there might be more "reversal" with slow blades and the nightmare- but as mentioned, no hands on experience with that.

ione thing to note when some people state that both have no substantial spin reversal whilst others claim the spin reversal is great: the spin reversal depends on two main factors: the blade you are using and your opponent. if your opponent is a rather weak player or doesnt loop with much spin, it shouldnt surprise that the blocks cannot create any reversal out of thin air. thus the contradiction in reviews is a result of different blades, possibly wrong technique and surely the opponents the reviwers have been playing against.

its a great rubber, which i can only recommend, but like all slick antis it takes a lot of practice, this isnt plug and play! 8)

Here you'll find some blocks ... :)
Material: BBC X-Fusion TC, Der Materialspezialst Beast 1,2mm

My opponent is the Nr 1 in our team (TTR ~1900 --> USATT ~2400) and performs really well against pips and GlAnti. Thus he makes nearly no mistakes against the spin reversal of the blocks. Best training you could imagine! :)

At first he serves only slow low-spin topspins which are quite difficult to block for me as a "Beast-beginner". From 2:40 on you'll see the performance of the Beast against harder topspins. Then he get's more and more problems, especially from 3:20 on.

Looks good Variatio. Please keep us updated on your progress. I'm using it too. Just in the early weeks. Getting a little better every session.

Can anyone tell me the difference between 1.2 and 1.5 please? I have heard, it is easier to block with 1.5 (less angle adjournment and slower) than 1.2. Then what are the advantages of 1.2 over 1.5?
My blade is Stiga rosewood which is -OFF/OFF medium hard blade.

1.2 is a little faster and a little more direct feel.

Thanks mynamenotbob. I am playing with long pips (Giant Dragon Talon) right now.I mainly block and push (Aggressive push that can be considered attack)on my backhand side. I use my forehand a lot as well (50%). what thinness do you think I should use? would you please help me to decide?

For me, the 1.5 is better so I say go for the 1.5.

However, as they say, your milage may vary.

My blade is Stiga rosewood which is -OFF/OFF medium hard blade.

It was much easier to control with 1,2 mm sponge on my Gladiator blade than with 1,5 mm sponge on my fast Yinhe T2 carbon blade.
So, it is depend on speed of your blade. I think that there are bigger speed difference among the difference blades than between 1,2 and 1,5 sponges of Beast.

Definitely yes.
With the very fast T2 have to be always in exact positon, there is no time to change the anlgle of bat. 1,5 mm sponges can not slow down the ball sufficiently as would be expected. I felt the 1,2 sponge on Gladiator much more comfortable, and I was able to shorten my balls. The reversal was the same(very good) on both of them.

A lot of good blocks in those matches. You very easily could have won all those matches. You're using the 1.2mm Beast correct?

I think the 1.5mm Beast takes hard hits a lot better.

Yeah - you're right concerning the thickness. I'm waiting for the Spinparasite in 1.5mm, I hope that it is still a little bit better. :)

It's a lot of fun playing with those Antis, it prepares really good for my forehand. And you get some easy points because of spin reversal or opponent frustration.
