Topspin. If you're not comfortable hitting them, then vary your chop / float and depth / pace / height and see if they have a weakness from a certain area or certain ball (lower percentages) or if you are able to return succesfully when you play to a certain area.

I am playing him tonight, so I will try this out 2nite and c if it works, just got to make sure I don't give much room to put everything away.

Nice short serves, low chops, and attack where possible and I will try topspin to try and get him away from the table, as he likes to play close to the table. Oh well I've only beaten him once out of 10 meetings, so I think I should try something different.

Although he's only just put on the new seet of RITC 804, not sure if it was OX or not, but other players have said they've struggled against it compared to the bat he was using b4 which was a dead pair of mark v's with no sponge (which I think is not ITTF apporved, but our comp is more social then anything as we are not a member of the VTTA or Victorian Table tennis, as their membership fees seem high and we don't get any return for being a member if we don't play any other comps).

I will post tomorrow how I went.

Played against the guy with the RITC 804 rubbers last night for the first time.

He was unreal, he only made about 5 unforced errors all night. The gears on that thing were also unreal, as i was running back to retrieve the smash he'd just tap the ball over the net.

I played ok, but geez that rubber suits his game. (we play up to 21) I lost 11-21 & 19-21.

It was a tough night (our comp plays 4 singles & 1 doubles) and we lost it in the doubles 24-26 & 20-22.
