I usually warm up with pimple on backhand too...it's better for me to get into the game of it, and if my opponent gets something out of it, so be it. In actual game play, the speed and spin tends to be very different anyway, so I doubt it would impact much on the actual game.

To a good player it wont matter if you have pimples/anti and refuse to warm up with that rubber as they will have a good idea of what to expect from it anyway. For warm up all I want is a bit of movement and feel on the ball with my shots.

I really dislike the player that needs to "win the warmup" it's a warm up for both players and I dont need practice picking up a ball. I don't mind if a player has anti or pimple and just warms up with the normal inverted. I actually prefer it, as it allows me to warm up.

That being said. As mentioned the player is not obliged to use both rubbers in the warmup.

I agree with apophis, far more irritated by players trying to 'win' the warmup. Don't care which side they use. I use both of mine but the pimples are only short.

Nothing in the rule book states that you have to warm up your opponent to the "funny rubber" so they can get a feel for it.
Ai Fukuhara during warm up never uses her SP side.

Yes I agree completely. Still I wonder why she does not use it? Is it because she does not want to give anything away, or is it actually for the benefit of the opponent, who may well prefer a regular rubber to 'warm up' against.
There must be some sort of etiquette, that coaches teach players, about what is the 'sportsmanship way' to warn up...

I never use my anti in warm-up but hit with my forehand out of the BH side. I never had anybody complain about that. If people want to I show them my rubber (they have a right to take a look at it)but I will not hit with it (I have the right to do that).

I wonder what kind of level of player it takes to be able to get meaningful information about how to play a "funny" rubber in just two minutes and just one or two kinds of returns from it. A genius, I would think |( . The player with the "funny" rubber him(her)self, on the other hand, just has to remind him(her)self of how it feels, and two minutes may well be enough for that. So my guess is that you gain more from warming up using your funny side as well.
