Just saw this:

Unless this is an April Fool's Day joke, it looks like the good Dr. is turning to anti as an option.

I know, $70 for an anti is just insane.

And despite that, I bet you a ton of people are gonna use it. Heck, people bought Super Block like there was no tomorrow, and it was $50ish, right?

New versions of Monster & Boomerang are also listed, but are rated as less disturbing...

If true in real play, these must be extremely slippery anti's.

I'm disappointed that I appear to be one of the few still showing EJ traits. I have ordered the Gorilla - will be interesting to compare it to Hallmark's mirage.

I have also ordered the Monster classic (LP's).

Come on you lot - forget the financial implications and get buying!

I vote for dingwol2 as member of the month. :D

We need a way of giving members on-line admiration when they buy and compare rubbers for us all.

So far, in the past couple of months, I have ordered:-

Mirgage (x 2) (on Ultra and Aurora)
TT Master Swingback IF Ox (on Enigma blade)
TT Master Crossbow 0.6mm (probably on barricade)
Dr N Gorilla 0.6mm (going on Ultra)
Dr N Monster Classic 1mm (going on Ultra too I think)

plus blades Hallmark Ultra, Enigma and Aurora.

I must be nuts!

If that doesn't make me member of the month, I don't know what will!

anti ≠ frictionless long pips, in fact anti << frictionless long pips, or the good dr. himself would have been using it all these years

There's nothing to suggest this is going to have the same effect as frictionless LP in terms of reversal - the marketing does not go this far. The key thing I want is slow, controllable blocking and this is what the marketing does say. At the level I play, it's rarely the spin reversal which wins a point as my opponents are too strong for this. I win most points by strategy - I want to keep a point going, to work myself into a position to be able to stop my opponent from all out attacking and then counter or open the attack myself. If anti is ok for this, that's great - it matters nothing to me if it's pips or anti. As long as I have the control to keep the point in play, particuarly to play a ball short and low when returning a loop, this is my goal. Often a no spin ball can be tricky to play - maybe not so much as a heavy reversed block, but we're never going to get his effect again with the ITTF ban coming.

Please be open minded. I'll report back the results of what I find. It may be a disaster - I'm not overly optimistic about Mirage - but it does make life interesting, heh! If you're good enough, I think you will adapt - I guess I'll find out if this applies to me soon!

I have an old teammate who is also ordering the Gorilla - Graham, you know I'm taling about you! He used to use toni hold, so has history with slow anti (I used Dingo and 804 in a previous life). So you won't only get my opinion on this new rubber.

Hi, I found this in a German forum where a member wrote about his experience with the new antis (Gorilla and Grizzly). BTW he mentioned something like he "tried these antis in a test with the Dr Neubauer himself 2 weeks ago" 8) .

Whatever - according to him these rubbers are completely different from former antis or the new HM Mirage ("how does he know, that one is brandnew?? but that´s another question). Both antis should have spinreversal as they are extremely slippery. And finally: They can be played on traditional blades for frictionless pips..

I actually think that they are marketing it as offering the same, or VERY similar, effect as frictionless long pips. Read this sentence from the description of Gorilla, for example:

Dr. Neubauer GORILLA is our answer to the banning of frictionless long pimples. It is the perfect choice for all players who have previously used our ‘Super Block’, ‘Inferno’ or ‘Scalpel’ rubbers.
