I belive he is using Gorilla something similar. That stroke is rather easy to do with any anti, MP or LP. Attacking back spin is what most rubbers with little grip excels in. But for the stroke to be leathal you need speed and that is difficult with the super slow antis like Transformer or Bison.

Returned to long pimples for new season. Will renew the experiment in May 2017 God willing.

Both videos are with the same blade for better comparison. I am an average recreational player, who played for years with Dr Neubauer Scalpel 0.6mm, and I found Bison to be very similar.

A further session with the Bison today.Attacking shots starting to work better. Had a visitor to the club who was a reasonable player with decent topspin on either wing. He couldn't handle the anti and thought it reacted like a long pip. I am still blocking inconsistently but the shots are beginning to become automatic rather than me having to think about what I am doing. I find that a perfectly executed block leads to my opponent netting and they are over hitting the longer ones. The Bison is superb for returning heavily spun serves and this is a must for any backhand rubber I use. I think I am on the verge of breakthrough but still need to practice against more loopers. Yes, he is using Gorilla 0.6 which is about the fastest slick anti you can get so attacking underspin will generate a lot of pace. You can still do the same stroke with Buffalo or Bison though your shot won't be as fast. I personally feel that his stroke is a little bit "too big" and I prefer to use less arm and more wrist action.

Hi Matt, I am using my Stratus Powerdefense but thinking of putting a sheet on the Matador as. I need a backup blade. I don't want to remove the Bison though. Bulldog

I am thinking of trying Bison or Buffalo now that the season is over. I have been using Mega Block since November and Transformer before that. Is there anyone using Bison in 1,8 mm? That is the one I am most interested in for a try. How do you like it? What blade do you use it on?

It seems the same to me when I am watching these videos, because with Buffalo some spins from my partner go straight into the table, not even reaches the net.

Did you try Bison in both 1.8 and 1.5 mm? I read that 1.8 is slower and more easy for attacking, without loosing much of the spin reversal.

I tried only 1.5mm. Versions with thinner sponge are faster so I don't know if it is easier to attack with faster or slower version, by pushing or lifting. I thought that attacking with thinner version is easier because thinner are faster. I attack only by pushing, I miss a lot of balls while lifting.

I like it a lot though I never tested MB or transformer so I can't make the direct comparisons. I play it on the Matador and have also tested in on Jackpot. I similarly slow than the Buffalo 1.8 in passive or short game but more dynamic in attacking probably due to the different pips structure (Bison has longer pips than Buffalo). I don't see a big difference in the spin reversal and if so Bison might have a slight edge. The major difference imho is that Bison has a lower throw angle on blocks (Buffalo tends to pop up if you get the blade angle wrong though still with a lot of underspin on it) and generally feels a little livelier. The Buffalo has more of a dead feel. It's easier to attack (lift or aggressive push) with Bison and you get more acceleration on the ball.
