I've finally decided to change my game and play to my strengths rather than how I want to play.

This means playing closer to the table and mixing it up a bit more, I've been playing round with long pimples and have played used them in the past.

Basically I don't like the weight of the bat with LP. Also the sound is a dead giveaway, I know any player worth their salt will be watching like a hawk but its I would like to try anti.

Could someone please recommend an anti rubber.

I'm historically a 2 wing looper I'm looking something I can block/change the tempo with. I twiddle and still attack off both wings.

I still want something that will allow me to block/punch the ball if I get caught on that side.

Currently looking at Rhino

THanks in advance

Did you try Dr. Neubauer Aggressor yet? This is essentially a pimpled anti with medium long pimples on a fast and quite heavy sponge - might be some kind of compromise for you.

It chops, blocks, drives and smashes well, but requires lots of practice and quite some time getting used to. It is different to anything else I tried so far. Very insensitive to incoming spin it will give you some issues when pushing. Difficult to impart your own spin. Simply sticking the paddle in the way of the ball won't work (no control), it requires you to play active strokes. Those are rewarded with very disturbing effects.

If it has spin reversal, then it won't have much grip to attack no-spin/top spin balls with. If it has enough grip to hit no-spin/top spin consistently with... then it won't have reversal. The best you can hope for going that route is one that either gives off dead balls, or has just a smidgen of reversal which will allow for slightly better hitting than no grip at all!

So you have to decide: do you want reversal for blocks/bumping backspin hard? Or do you want grip to attack with/block back dead balls?

I recommend trying Sauer & Troger Super Stop.

Only because we need someone to test it and I'm running out of EJ money. ;)

I think Lion Mantlet might be a cheaper and similar alternative to Super stop.

Was about to pull the trigger on Rhino... But then saw Mega Block... Now I'm debating again... Any thoughts?

Mega Block is slower and safer, low and short blocks. But it needs the right blade. Rhino I think is better for attacking backspin, maybe a little more spin reversal, and faster. I only played a few points with Rhino, but I used Bison+ for awhile.

The new antis, Reflection from DMS and Tarantula from Neubauer should be considered. And can say that Reflection is similar to MB, but a little slower and better spin reversal.

Tried it out the other night... only played a bit with pimples but generally found it easier than Rhino.

I need to work on the stroke technique. How are you who play close to the table doing it? taking the ball super early or letting it come up a bit?

It seems to me at the minute the stoke is opposite to the opponents stoke? So a chop or back spin shot is met with with an upwards roll stoke and a top spin is met with a open bat playing a stroke in a downwards motion??

Seems very bat angle dependant?? A lot of shots were carrying long but some weren't even making the net!!
Sometimes it was deadly!!!
