what strokes can be used effectively?

What to do against top spin from close to the table, mid distance and long distance?

Im a noob now when it comes to anti, so i set out some guidelines in my head to play shots with the bh with high percentage.

Against balls close to the table i tend to be "aggresive", lift the ball with some pace and with an open racket, and blocking with a slight forward motion again with a more open racket. Result being i tend to give a high ball but the ball will not go forward.

Middistance i tend to do the following but stroke is longer with more emphasis on the follow through to get the ball back.

From long distance i can only chop but brush the ball more with backspin stroke and with side back if the ball is coming too fast. But here i tend to start with the stroke higher compacting more on the shoulder and elbow distance while crouched down on a slow stance and accelerating harder before contact. Sort of produces a "fish" from long distance.

Well like i said i am a complete noob with anti, and it plays alot slower than other pimples that i used to use.

Are there more things to learn???

I have no idea :? ??

Although I'm not an anti player, I would think the strokes are similar friction pimple stokes;

Against a topspin loop in-close, you should be able to counter hit a little aggressive with a slightly closed blade, to produce a slow ball with little spin. Put this ball away from his strong side, and it could produce a weak ball you can attack.
You can combine this with a little sideway swiping action, which can often help you keep the ball a little lower. Alternatively you can play a chop block, easier if the ball is a little slower, where take the ball off the bounce with a slightly closed blade, and a short chopping action. Make sure you wrist is relaxed...

From mid to far distance, chopping is likely the best option, since anything else will probably produce a weak ball. You should still be able to get some variation in spin, where is you chop down hard you will produce backspin, and when chopping slowly produce a floater. This is WELL WORTH practicing as variation is KEY away from the table!

thankyou guys,

I think the anti behaves best when played close to the table, from there you will have better angles too work with and changing the pace of the ball is possible.
Also attacks from the opposition is nullified from the slow sponge, often just sticking out the rubber against a hard loop or smash will result in a double bounce.
Hitting i guess is 50/50, but if done well will produce a devestating sink ball, again incoming spin will not matter so much, but the timing of the shot and height of the ball on the rise.
I will try work on more close to the table strokes, especially on blocks and causing different effects to the ball....

Any more advice will be appreciated

:P :) :P
