Dudes,

Something weird happened:
I wanted to reglue a storkraft rubber, but the sponge and topsheet came lose during the removal of the rubber.
Wanting to try it. I reglued it to a pink sponge from an old Abs 2 soft 2.5 mm I had lying around.
I glued to my andro treiber Fo off blade.

It is a monster. I have never had so much control and weird revearsal at the same time.
It's unreal. My sidesweeps are loaded with topspin and make a crazy curve. Hitting gives
Weird backspin.

Is this legal? And has annyone tried this before?
I've never had this before

Cheers
Pieter

If that is the case, good for you. Use it. It is as legal as any other rubber has the "ITTF" logo on its topsheet.

As your sponge from old abs is 2,5mm, pay attention that the topsheet is not higher than 1,5mm.
Sponge + topsheet should be <4mm

Yes it should be legal, just check the thickness as Derf59 already mentioned. Total thickness should be no more than 4.0mm.

I love surprise discoveries like this!

According to Igor, it is illegal to change the sponge .

What's the truth in that?

No it's not, as long as the total thickness is less than 4mm as the wrote before. That is why although there are 3 different Palio AK-47 (red, blue, yellow) there is ONLY one listing of this rubber in LARC, it's the exact same rubber with 3 different in color and hardness sponges.

A some years ago, if I remeber right, there was a rule that the sponge should be light-colored for red topping and dark-colored for black topping, but this is not a rule anymore.
