I have been trying to develop a categorization of “styles” of top-level players who use frictionless anti, and this is what I have come up so far. I am sure I missed some, but this is a start.

FLanti with traditional inverted attacking

This style uses FLanti primarily on the backhand, with occasional flipping to the forehand. Inverted mostly used on forehand for topspin attacks and serving. FLanti used mostly on backhand for blocking incoming topspin, producing off-speed underspin, and for attacking incoming underspin, producing odd speed shots.

Examples are Luka Mladenovic and Andrea Aschi. Luka in particular has a sideswipe attack of pushes that seems effective, and he has the highest level defeat of a top player (Simone Gauzy) for male players. Example videos are at these links:

Luka highlights – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PV5zRBry1ps
Luka vs. Dang Qui -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lq2hgsq9fI
Luka vs. Simon Gauzy - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mFeUOk1PFo

Andrea vs. blocker – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mn06ZHjGII8
Andrea tournament match - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxtLxs_QBtA

Others – ??

Attacking with FLanti and with pips out

This style uses FLanti to attack and set up attack, coupled with pips out on the other side for flat hitting. FLanti is used to block incoming topspin, or attack if the shot is not strong enough. Incoming underspin is attacked with good placement. Weak returns due to the FLanti can then be put away with the pips.

Examples are Sushmit Sriram and Amir Ahmed. Amir has aggressive push-attacking game with anti that produces good opportunities for offense.

Sushmit vs. Elger Neumann – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYK55WyIhEk&t=305s
Suchmit vs. Miha Podobnik - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WcWF-yjzTQ

Amir vs. Denis Zholudev – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_oZq8_On8i0&t=73s
Amir in Salzburg - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Vz2RES7DKA

Other -- ??

Emphasizing reversal with anti.

This style uses FLanti to emphasize spin reversal, especially for incoming underspin. Incoming underspin is pushed back with some speed, producing an odd shot that is hard to deal with. Incoming topspin is blocked with a gentle forward motion, producing off-speed and odd spin shots.

Example is Ayhika Mukherjee, who has the highest level defeat using FLanti, defeating Sun Yingsha (World #1) in the recent WTTT event

Ayhika vs. Sun Yingsha –https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENbexAWu5_A
Ayhika vs. Wang Manyu - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xJfJtmBoec

Other -- ??

There are probably other styles at professional levels I am not aware of, maybe a modern defender using FLanti, or push-blocking style, but I figured this is a start. I hope this generates more examples, discussion, and ideas.

ITTF feels concerned about the increasing abundance of fancy materials in the sport, and frictionless anti rubbers in particular. Yes, all the anti rubbers are gonna to be re -tested by ITTF lab for fricton limits. Those rubber brands that have proved below CoF 0.25 are bound to cancellation from the LARC list irrevocable.

We don't want the sport to take character of a game of chance, a kind of Funfair lottery ♦♠♣♥

I think it is time for you to stop having yourself trying to believe such thing is going to happen. ITTF just do not give a f*ck about antis. Also, antis are not going to take over.

Thanks. I think he would fit in the category of a inverted attacker with FLanti.
