Does anyone know anything about this rubber?

Is is still due out in May and how will it differ from the Anti Special?

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts :)

No I don't want it Richard. A chap at our club meeting last night plays with anti and was asking me about it. I checked the Neubauer website earlier and couldn't find any information on it, so I thought I'd ask here.

I'm still sticking with BT, even thought I'm useless with it

Do you know where it fits into the Neubauer product range? Is it meant to be slower than Anti Special?

Carrson (Neub.'s seniors son) said May.

They keep putting back the release date.

AS was nice, but too predictable, more so than SB. What worries me with this stuff is that the harder the stroke that you are returning the less reverse it carries due to the sponge. A chop motion does avoid this however.

MNNB understands some of the technical aspect of ABS, but really with BT and D.techs there isn't much point continuing to EJ its really about where on the disruption scale (distance from the table) you want to play.

It was good that Neub. pulled off getting anti below the frictionless threshold and I suspect ABS will be an improvement. It will be useful for some, perhaps someone learning reverse spin, but its too limiting.

Rubber type: Anti-Spin NEW !!

Dr.Neubauer A – B – S

The new weapon for blocking close to the table

Image

Spell me...

A for Anti
B for Block
S for Spin

How can I be of service to you?

Well I do hold a master degree in killing any topspin by blocking, chop blocking or chopping at long range, be it loaded, with little rotation or a power attack. I specialise in doing this with a lot of spin reversal and just low and short over the net.

Actually during my studies I majored in another subject called ‘control’. Now I can keep in check any stroke with ease. Believe me this turned out to be quite an ordeal but I did it and now have fully mastered it.

You may call me slow, even very slow and I shall subscribe to this. However, if I get bored while blocking and pushing I do lose my temper occasionally, oh boy can I get aggressive then.

Doping? Trust me I don’t need it, actually I even hate it.

I am honest, reliable and durable. Let us shake hands and play together. It will be fun and a pleasure, albeit certainly not for our opponents.

___________________________________________________________________________

Our two new Anti-Spin rubbers A-B-S and ANTI SPECIAL are decisively slower than our Anti-Spin rubbers GORILLA and GRIZZLY. Both new rubbers offer a much better control and produce a good spin reversal. At the same time they enable aggressive pushing and lifting, especially on chopped balls.

Both A-B-S and ANTI SPECIAL have a new rubber mixture for the topsheet and a new type of sponge. Thus the rubbers come very close to our old frictionless long pimples.

The 1.2mm version is the slowest in both cases and hence the most effective for short blocking close to the table. The version with 1.5mm sponge is slightly faster and thus a bit more effective for attacking. The 1.8mm version enables both good blocking and most of all attacking.

ABS looks too much like AS.

AS is a good rubber no doubt - with the exceptions I've stated previously. What I would question is why there is a low uptake by the anti community. Why doesn't Speedplay like it?

I think that Neubauer will get there in the end. I really do. For the player though its an expensive process on the drip, drip, drip of releases. Preciously how you introduce a 'disruption factor' into a high control and high reversal anti is beyond me but they seem to have several pieces of the puzzle assembled.

The thing I'd like resolving is the excessive sponge.

Thats what I meant. You don't see it as "special" you just see it as a regular anti.

no one here that got a chance to play with the a-b-s pre-release? it would be very interesting to find out how much slower it is than the neubauer anti special!

Have you been able to control the Anti Special any better than this guy?

to be honest i dont quite understand why he plays with an anti...the way he plays, i would claim that a long pimple rubber would make more sense for him..

i played with the anti for the second time tonight against a first league player who has ver powerful topspins. its getting better and better..i can attack the same way i did with the long pimples, the difference being that it is easier to attack balls without spin, that aside, the balls are far less predictable with the anti, he hardly knew what was coming. the other reason why i will continue this experiment are the blocks: many of the blocks come in a very short and flat manner and he is forced to chop or raise the ball. the only big problem with the anti: apart from not being used to it, there are far too many unforced errors when blocking, i havent "understood" the rubber yet to be honest ;) if the a-b-s is equally slippery on the surface but clearly is slower then i think things might look better
