Have you been able to control the Anti Special any better than this guy?

I know Marcus the guy with anti and that happened long time ago, now he is way better and uses A-B-S. Here is a video of him.

Yes, he's doing a lot better now. Do you know what blade and forehand rubber he uses?

oh yah I am pretty sure he uses umm.. "Slimline Extra control" From Rendler. They don't make that blade any more. Forehand I am pretty sure he uses Tackiness Drive from BTY. I think that is his current set up, but he switches and tries a lot of things. I will see hem this Sunday and i will know for sure.

Thanks for checking. Also interesting that he's using a 1.5 sponge on the forehand. Great playing style!

Does anyone have an opinion on whether the black and red versions of ABS play any differently?

I know when I was using Inferno, the red was far slower than the black! I'd say at least 20% slower!

Is it the same for the anti rubbers and if so, is the red still the slowest or is it the black?

Thanks :)

I didn't see a significant difference between red and black ABS.

I DID see a significant difference ABS and Grizzly ABS.

The Grizzly gives more spin-reversal and more control, and it's only a little faster. ABS is really good against strong loopers, but Grizzly ABS is better against most players.

Hmmm interesting! Thanks for the feedback. According to the Neubauer site, the comparisons suggest otherwise (although I've not played with either so I can't make an informed comment).

Stats:

Speed:
ABS = 60 / Grizzly = 69

Control:
ABS = 85/ Grizzly = 81

Disruption:
ABS = 100 / Grizzly = 100

This suggests that ABS, actually has more control? I notice that you've tried them both on the same blade, so I'll be interested to hear your feedback once you've tested a bit more.

I've still yet to play with ABS, but I hope that it allows me to retain the same levels of control that I have with Inferno and allow me to keep the ball short. It certainly feels around about the same speed as Inferno when bouncing the ball on the blade, so I just need to practice and find out.

:)

The ABS seems to be specially designed to deal with heavy loops and receiving serves. Otherwise it's so slow it seems kind of dead.

To me, the Grizzly ABS has better control because it seems to be more forgiving on the angles and I make less unforced errors. I also like the trajectory better.

I see Grizzly ABS as more disruptive because I've found opponents more often put blocks against topspin into the net compared to ABS, which is kind of benign against balls without heavy spin.

In addition, the Grizzly attacks way better.

My ratings:

Speed:
ABS = 60 / Grizzly = 69

Control:
ABS = 82/ Grizzly = 84

Disruption:
ABS = 90 / Grizzly = 100

Dr. Neubauer plays ABS against loopers and Grizzly ABS against all around players. I think that makes a lot of sense as these are really quite specialized rubbers.

More control against which stroke? Classically "control" in the old frictionless was about keeping the ball very short loaded with backspin. I am not sure thats doable any more.

Violin is a nice a blade for pips but might be a bit fast for anti?
