They should av more barriers. That helps a lot :-)
But I have been in the same situation at a competition with a full set of barriers around the playing area (whatever it is called).

I don't know. Barriers might be limiting spacewise.
Besides, it won't help people crossing over. That's the saddest part.

Hmm, normally they create a pathway between playing areas for people to pass through. Kinda like train aisle.

Naughty committee. Poor big man. :)

In the USA, players will call a let for ANYTHING that happens close to their court and sto play. In a place like this, if one calls a let for everything, then there will be so many interuptions, that you really cannot play a match with any continuity and it really takes away a lot from the match.

You could put a one piece barrier perpendicular to the row of tables, but it will only stop 1/4 to 1/3 of the balls and wont stop anyone from walking behind your table.

The Koreans have a solution to all this. They crowd the hall with MORE tables, usually in a tourney, they will have two very long rows of tables with 1.5 meters space between tables. They will ABSOLUTELY NOT call a let unless one of three things happens.

1) A ball from another table bounces on your table

2) A player from your match bumps into or runs over a player from the next table

3) The ball hits a player from next table before it hits the ground

Those are the only situations a let is called and Koreans all accept this and play on. This gets rid of the frequent lets, even if a player retrieving a ball from under your table in the middle of the point, it still isnt a let and everyone knows to play on. A really skilled player will hit shots that make you go close to, but not hit adjacent players. :)

The only way to get rid of this in USA totally is to make court size large enough for ITTF Specs with 1 meter high barriers. Other than that, we are going to get what we get.

I agree with this. I cannot believe how many lets are called. It even happens in non-league matches at our club. Ridiculous. If you are concentrating on the ball and your game you will not see half of the errant balls that I see called lets. I just sign, shrug and try to go on.

I also agree that more barriers are not the answer. I would rather have room to roam!
