They'll probably appear soon on Youtube. The event started today.
What a strange result (Joo-Fan). 2, 1?

Strange game. A lot of unforced errors of Joo. A lot of looping errors of Achanta. No dynamics in the game. Plastic ball?

If that was the case, it would have affected more than just that one game surely?

I've just watched that and to be fair I think it's because Achanta has a massive forehand.

As soon as the ball didn't have huge backspin on it, he powered through it. Don't think I saw him play a backhand. Did you see how wide into his backhand Joo was trying to place his service returns and pushes, knowing that Achanta would take that ball on his forehand every time?

I actually thought it was a really good game. Joo was moving well and chopping well. He lost 2 important points in the last end because he attacked Achanta, trying to capitalise on his lead, but Achanta blocked everything really well.

With no dynamics I mean "everything seems the same speed". I found the looping in the final set more cautious: loop with more spin than speed. Still a lot unforced errors on both sides in every game, more than I'm used to from both players.

Early on Achanta managed to slap a couple of short balls past Joo. That might be the plastic ball at play. Later he then tried to slap a few more and netted them. He didn't do that in the last couple of ends so I guess it was just something he tried and then stopped doing when it stopped working for him.

If anything, which is a promising sign to me, I feel like it was spin causing the errors for both players. Joo pushed into the net twice which he really should never do and chopped off (especially with his forehand) too often.

achanta played really nice
slow spinny loops which are dropping on ground near, off table are really hard to play good for defender (u cant swing to do more backspin)
Joo didnt pass groups :(

You should think that achanta not really plays very good against defenders.
He lost 2 times to Wang Xi in the bundesliga.
