Post subject:  Instructional Videos/DVD's

Hi All,

I don't have the spare funds to purchase the monthly online programs such as TTEdge, PingSkills or TTU etc. but I would still like to learn step by step the way in which to learn effective strokes as this seems to be the best way that I learn when deconstructing and then gradually building up the mechanics.

I have looked at MANY video's online and the freebies I have seen so far just aren't quite what I am looking for.

So far I have found 2 DVD's that might be more what I am after ? ...

"Brian Pace - Dynamic Forehand Loop Training" and "Table Tennis Master - Forehand Loop Mastery" which both seem to break the shot down as I am looking for.

Before I outlay the funds and import the DVD's to the UK, does anyone have any experience of either of these DVD's ? if you own one of them, Did it work for you/help you ?

I am happy to look at alternatives if anyone has any suggestions?

Many Thanks in advance all.

I've watched the table tennis mastery loop video. I find the exercises to be pretty good, but not much beyond what you'll see on youtube.

I felt it lacked some of the basic mechanics to focus on and in the end it didn't really help me any, except giving some progression exercises to improve the stroke.

I know you said you couldn't pay for it, but TTedge I think will get you further. I'd say try a couple of months and have Brett give you a little feedback.

That said, TT master loop didn't click for me, maybe it will for you.

Hi Wilkinru,

thanks for the advice :)

Another reason for me not doing TTEdge is that I don't have dedicated practice times/facilities or video'ing capabilites, so my thoughts about video's/DVD's was something that I could dip into prior to a session and then go and practice a certain aspect (and I don't have access to a coach either :( )

In terms of the mastery DVD, it mentions a couple of items I was keen on that maybe forum members could help me find resources for:

Discover how to perform slow loops, loop drives, and loop kills .
Master the counter-loop and never again collapse under the pressure of an aggressive attacker.
Annihilate your opponents with vicious sidespin hook and fade loops...... ok so I don't want to "annihilate" anyone, but the techniques would be good.
and lastly, another forum user suggested "learn how to brush the ball".....

How do I do all/any of these? What position do I need to be in? What arm movement do I need? etc etc

I'm not a complete novice (well not entirely) and its possible I already do some of this without knowing the correct terms, but how can I break it down to the correct mechanics or to use words I saw in another thread by Brett... how do I deconstruct the shots and get the basics?

Many thanks in advance.
