Up and coming Japanese player, plays with what some people on YouTube are calling the "Katana grip" (though I don't think it has anything to do with how you'd hold a katana :lol: ). There are certain Japanese words that seem to have become fashionable, or have gotten onto people's radar as of late - katana, izakaya, onsen, shinkansen... maybe this is the fault of YouTube.. :lol:

Katana grip or no katana grip, this is very high level table tennis.

She first came to our attention due to this video:



She's ranked pretty high among the ITTF elite Youth - #3 in the U-19, #2 in the U-17 category. She's no longer listed in the U-15, so I suppose she's turned 15. Also #130 among the Women, I expect this to go up.

I don't think anyone else has, either. :lol: At least, not at that level.

I made a change to the title - according to Adam Bobrow, she uses short pips on one side.
