OOAK Table Tennis Forum

My order arrived last sunday so that is a delivery time of about 2 weeks. Very good considering I live in the Netherlands.
The thing that did go wrong is also atleast partially my fault.
Anyway the BH and FH rubbers where switched but in my little text I wrote backhand 2x instead of 1x FH and 1x BH.
Overal I can recommend this shop but I would have expected an email with a question about my weird little text though its pretty easy to overlook.

Ahh I see what you mean now. I'll have to take the blame for this one since I put them together. You mentioned you wanted the red rubbers on backhand, and the black ones on backhand....

I assumed the first part was right, and assumed you meant forehand for the other one. Since a blade does not really have a forehand or backhand anyway, I did not bother following it up, assuming you were just clarifying which colours you wanted.

Sorry about that, I should have checked up on that

So the end result was Servio got the rubber he wanted in red, in black instead and the rubber that should have been black was red, is this correct? I always thought of BH as being black and FH as being red, is this a common convention or just me? And Haggis is right, a blade doesn't really have a FH and BH, it is the player who decides which gets used where. Hence the great art of twiddling

Servio I think OOAKT does a great job, and all other traders I have dealt with specify in their ads that unless it is CLEARLY specified which rubber colours you want THEY will decide. Now I don't think this is even Haggis's intention, but it is a forgivable mistake, although I can see how it would niggle you to have the rubber in the typically spinnier black, in red. Put it down to a learning experience for you both. Who knows maybe this bat will perform better than you expected. Let's hear how it goes! Good Luck with it.

When I'm ordering I always write brand, model, thickness/hardness of sponge, color -- for example "Friendship 802, 1.8 40 hardness, red."

If you don't specify the color next to the rubber I agree you shouldn't be surprised when things get switched. I could see speciying FH and BH on an assembled racket as sometimes the handle, lenses or label make one side better (or at least more aesthetically pleasing) for forehand.

Not sure why you'd expect someone to know which color is supposed to go on the forehand. Many European players like red on the forehand, but some (like Schlager) prefer black, and many Chinese players prefer black, though some (like Ma Lin) like red.

I read the problem as "you've put the forehand rubber on the back of the blade and the backhand rubber on the front of the blade", with the colours of the rubbers correct.

Yes Silver is correct. The rubbers were sent the in correct colour, size thickness, but when gluing them onto the blades that he also ordered, he requested for the red to be on the forehand of the blade, whereas it was glued onto the backhand...

OK now I am confused. How do you know which is the BH and FH of a blade, unless as Andrew says you like the logo showing when you hold it?

So if Servio got the right color rubbers I can't see a problem at all. Am I missing an important point, or am I just not fussy enough about how I hold my blade?
