I am coaching my 7 year old son to play TT & would like to get him a decent pre-made bat. There are a few handshakes on the online shop for under $30. My custom bat (ordered through here) weighs 190g & is probably too heavy for him, so something like 175g or under would be ideal.

Any ideas anyone ? Cheers

Most premades tend to be heavier unfortunately, and don't always give you good control. For a little extra, you can get a custom bat, which can be light and offer a lot more control, and the rubbers can be replaced when they're worn out (can't always do that with premades).

I'd suggest Instinct blade with two 729 Lightening 2.0mm rubbers... Cost is AUD$44.40 (plus shipping unless you're local) with the made made up completely. This is exactly what my 8yr old daughter is using and is progressing very well...

Haggisv, try weighing your daughter's bat for a weight figure. :)

BTW, even for me 190g is a bit too weighty. Very tiring over long haul games. I use DHS dipper DI-02 + 729 faster III + 729 higher III = 190g

I was thinking exactly the same. Would have to be one of the lightest combos around (without going totally silly.)

Hah, you guys are just checking if I've really made one up or not, arent you

Ok I weighed it at 165g. No doubt there will be some variation as the blade and weigh weight varies a little, but I'd expect it to be around 170g...

I guess you mean either coat (varnish) the blade, or prime the rubbers?

Oh sorry, I mean coat the blade. My son is likely to be rough with it :-)

The blade can be coated, no probs, but it will only protect the blade surface for when you remove the rubber... It offers no protection to rough handling I'm afraid...

Yes that will have to do. Any charge for coating ? I bought one from you a year ago & I should have asked for coating.
