That's pretty decent prize money! Is that normal for this event?

The last Los Angeles Open was held twelve years ago, so we decided to bring it back with a bang! :)

I hope it does well for you! Sometimes holiday weekends work out great, and sometimes they're a hard sell because people have plans. I bet that, with that prize money, you will do very well.

Just out of curiousity, is the prize money provided by sponsors? If that's a confidential matter, I understand, but if not it's something other clubs could learn from!

Mostly from private donations/contributions to make it happen. :)

That is a lot of prize money. Some people could actually pay for the flight out there by winning a lower division. Great job on getting this together. I don't even want to imagine the monsters who will show up for this event considering there are thousands of dollars to be won.

Steger, Xi, Tokic and Primorac must be getting an appearance fee for participating in the Toronto tournament where the first prize is only $5000. They're all blowing off the U.S. Open the following week where the first prize is $6000.

I hope the $12,000 entices a lot of good players. Good job setting that up!

they got paid a lot more to come play plus flights and accommodations covered as well....the prize money was just a formality.

High level contacts are going on with Chinese, Japanese associations as well as a number of European players... With post names once they confirm! :)
