Racket testing at Olympic qualifiers Australia, Oceanania
apparently some Aussies have been tested at 3 times the Voc limit, (well their bats have) I wonder what happens next?
Retriever might know, the limit is 3.3 and some Aussies were tested at 10

oops a lot of the top Australia players are still on speed glue, I didn't know there was ever going to be any testing done here, that's quite funny . Surely for something as serious as making or not making the Olympic team if you are over the limit you are off the team? I'd hope so anyway

If they're using speed glue, I would expect the readings to be much more than 10. Perhaps they're using a tuner which is not VOC-free, or at least not low enough. Of course it's also possible they (unknowingly) used rubber cement to glue, or the rubber is new and the VOC from the factory have not yet dissipated.

It's also possible that the device is set to go no higher than 10 or so...

Good point If so, they'll probably have to recalibrate after testing a speed glued rubber, as the VOC levels are very high and will probably hang around.

Well all players are playing , my friend is in the NZ team and saw the testing, but they have other rackets etc

I don't believe there is a limit to how high the number can go. When I was doing racquet testing at the 2011 US Open, some of them that went over finished in the neighborhood of 10. Then there were a couple that were close to 100. Of course, those people used rubber cement or something else obviously not allowed.

As I said in the Tournament thread, initially 40% of bats tested using the "new" VOC tester were over. After something was done (I am not in racket control, just noise abatement ), and they were retested they all passed.

I suspect the equipment is really meant for laboratory environment, not a playing area. Surprising that they ALL passed after something was done to fix it...perhapsd thery assumed that the machine must be working as all the rackets passed? I expect a new sheet of Tenergy out of the packet should fail the test, as would many other rubbers straight out of the packet, as the VOC are still there and they need to be "aired".

I agree that all rubbers should be aired, but think (personal opinion) that a rubber straight out of the packet, that is approved by the ITTF, should not fail an ITTF mandated test.

The machine was being used in a corner of the umpire's room. A fan was set up near it to supposedly keep the air clear of "fumes".
