Just saw on the Rockford club website that full results are supposed to be posted later today, I can't wait to see where we ended up placing after starting out in the 9th spot.

Looks like they didn't follow through on their promise to post results. :(

Ha ha ha, I've been doing the same thing, clearing out my cache, thinking that something is wrong. Now it's two days later and still no results.

To bad the guy doesn't have any advertising on that page. He's probably getting a ton of hits.

Ratings are now updated! I only went down to 1892, despite all the close losses, thanks to a few of my opponents getting readjusted. If I'd just won 2-3 of those heartbreakers, I could have gained a lot of points. Oh well, I'll get 'em next time!

In Korea, if you cannot defeat them at the table in a club or tourney, you can always visit their club, play them, lose vs them, then, you can always afterwards DRINK them under the table, then play against them again for a Chicken and drink bet, which they invariably lose, while you giggle all the way to the dinner table...

It is tried and true.

These kind of things are a huge difference in Korean clubs. many of the over 40 crowd drink and have zero problem drinking in hte club social area after TT, it is actually a bringing-together thing. Those who do not drink beer get juice or cola and are still in with teh chicken. Delivery chicken (2 boxes) and a 1-litre cola cost $15 USD and you will get it delivered in under 30 minutes by a daredevil moped driver. You ask nice, you can have him pick up a picture of beer and add it to the cost.

EDIT: haha, I said Picture of beer, not pitcher, so in that case, I would get no beer, just an expensive photo. haha lulz.

Many of the members walk to teh club or ride a bike (myself included) some live further out and drive, because we have a good club. This allows many to drink as you don't worry about driving.

In the case where someone with a car screwed up and drank anyway, Korea has a gazillion people in the industry of designated driver. You call up a number, tell them where you are, and real quick, someone shows up to drive you AND your car home. In this area, it costs 15000 Won, or a little over $13 USD to get someone to drive you and your car home 15-20 minutes away. That is a real bargain. Also, RIGHT BELOW OUR CLUB, the local police occasionally setup roadblocks to catch drunk drivers. I always smile as I walk by and thank them, then encourage them to terminate drunk drivers, who are really a dangerous public enemy who acount for 10,000 deaths annually in USA alone.

Wow, we should have a system like that here in the US, where you can call and have a designated driver take you home. That could save a lot of lives.

The reason it is so inexpensive to get someone to drive you home on the cheap is for several reasons...

1) There are a gazillion young, educated and enumployed people willing to do ANYTHING to make even food money.

2) There are bus and subway/train that costs only a little over $1 to go many miles.

3) Taxi ride when mission is over to the train line is $2 base fare, which is always enough to get to the train station.

A young dude might be able to get several of these missions done in one night and maybe net $30 for the night's work if he gets enough calls. There are a LOT of people doing this, so sometimes you get tehjobs, sometimes not.

it would not work in most USA cities at teh same cost, because we USA people tend to drive a LONG way from home, plus if the designated drive dude finishes his mission, then how is he going to get back to wait his next mission? If he walks, half the time in USA cities, there is no sidewalk, or it is a dangerous neighborhood, or it is simply too long. The dude could call for a taxi to get him to a coffee place to wait for the next mission, and prolly take a taxi to get to his next mission, but a 10 KM taxi ride in USA is murder on hte money.

Given these circumstances, it would be difficult to do the "Mission" for under $30 in most cases, and a lot of USA people do not carry $30 cash extra with them, or they done spent it already drinking. Also, not many USA people are willing to spend $30 for this service, even though it could save them thousands of dollars if they get caught driving drunk.

For any of you who played in the tournament, it appears as if the rating errors and omissions have been corrected already! And I gained two more points back. Woohoo!

I look at all the close results and think of what could have been if I'd pulled out some of the deuce games I lost and been on the good side of the breaks (nets and edges). Oh well, I feel confident that I will get it all back and more next time!
