Mike Babuin, World Championship of Ping Pong USA Qualifier Director, announced today the format for USA players to qualify for the 2014 World Championship of Ping Pong to be played in London, England in January 2014. There are spots for two USA players.

Stage 1 – Regional Qualifiers: Players compete in Regional Qualifier Tournaments on the East Coast or the West Coast of the United States. There are regional qualifier tournaments already scheduled in Cary, NC and Clearwater, FL in September 2013 for the East Coast. There are plans for regional qualifier tournaments for the West Coast to be announced soon.

Stage 2 – Coastal Qualifiers: The winners of the Regional Qualifiers qualify for their respective Coastal Qualifiers. The East Coast Qualifier is slated to take place in Raleigh, NC in October 2013. The West Coast Qualifier Tournament is being planned.

The winner of each of the two Coastal Qualifiers will have the opportunity to represent the United States in the 2014 World Championship of Ping Pong in London, England in January 2014. These two players will join Ilija Lupulesku to represent the United States who automatically qualified due to his top 8 finish in the 2013 WCPP.
