I didn't even bother to search out a similar post so please move this is you must...my head is swimming in numbers, actually letters.

I believe that the following attempt to schedule my houseleague season is a question of permutations or combinations. I have been been giving the daunting task of working with an excel spreadsheet, , and something that sounds like a comfort food...macroni??? no macros!

Well here are the parameters: We have 6 teams of 3, so 18 players in total. (we used to have 4 divisions of 24 with tryouts!). Player input has directed me to produce a sheet with 3 rounds of 5 weeks.

My Math with macros "disengaged"(btw I have never used one):

AB CD EF
AD CF EB
AF CB ED
AC BD BYE E,F
AE BF BYE C,D
AB CD EF
AD CF EB
AF CB ED
DB CA BYE EF
DF CE BYE A,B
AB CD EF
AD CF EB
AF CB ED
FB EA BYE C,D
FD EC BYE A,B

Some of the questions that I have pertain to:
1. The fact that certain teams hog the same table which means that I should shift the match ups over?
2. Byes are good AND ALLOW FOR TIME OFF or should you play with match repetitions.
3. Is my math correct?
4. Is there an app for this sort of thing????

Much appreciated OOAK community.

so you will play 3 matches each, best of 5
with a team having a bye? there are heaps of forms available
but a spreasheet for team wins and player averages is good
give each team a name

Hi rodderz:

We have 6 teams playing on three tables, every Monday.

The players want a round to be 5 weeks and then the same match ups begin again but due to the math there is some repetition. Thats my assumption but I could be wrong here. Other combinations are possible but I just made it simple to keep track of.

There's heaps of free software. Look up 'bracket generator' or go to www.challonge.com and see if that would be suitable.
