I'm heading to Ballarat on the weekend of the 14th of May to play in the Junior/Senior tournament.

Any one else going?

Afraid not. Still planning on Vets in June.

Have you got a doubles partner Reb, we might sneak into the lowest division with my rating.

I've not checked out the details as yet though.

No doubles partner organised. Lowest division I can play is div 3, but I'd probably be up for it. I played with Oskar a few years ago at Geelong. We didn't get past round 1. The pair we played weren't that good, but they had played together a lot (they we husband and wife). The lack of familiarity with each others game though, meant Oskar and I were a worse pair  Having said that, I paired up at Bendigo in 2013 with someone I'd only played against once or twice and we went through and won the Div 3 final (I think I also won Div 2 doubles with Sahmaniac) and I was runner-up in Div 3 singles...was some good cash that day lol. At least I've seen you play, could be enough to make a difference

Hi Cobalt,
I'm thinking about playing veterans in Ballarat, do you know when is the deadline?

I lost a heap of points from 2 matches at Dandy, so under 1200 now I think.

Jeanc I don't think the entry is even out yet. Deadline will be about end of May.

I stand corrected the entry is out. Closing is 25th May.

There's no divisional doubles Cobalt. Only Age doubles. I think this is courtesy of our ILL(ustrious) president of TTV (and Dandy) directing how these things go. Its ridiculous because Ballarat has the tables to run these extra events. Anyway, I'll have to check with my travelling mate as to whether he wants to play doubles together. Age group doubles is very strong. If we play together (he is ~1450), I can get him setups he can put away.

Thanks Reb for the info, I might play that tournament.
I went have a look at the entry form, events 28 to 32 are divisional singles, do you know if they changed that?
Happy to play doubles with anyone looking for a partner

Sorry mate, I meant to write no divisional doubles. :headbang: There are still div singles.

Reb, you play with your mate, no worries.

That's if he wants to, or even goes to Ballarat. He's been in hospital for the weekend with probes and stuff on him trying to figure out some unknown issue. Its a month away, so I hope it sorted, cos without him, I won't be at Ballarat either.

Looks like I'm probably going to be a scratching from this event. Its a bit too soon after last time we went away. Last year it was 6 weeks apart from the other Ballarat tourney, this year its only 3 and I've got another event in between and another early July.

If I could have got someone from the club to come over and back same day then I might have been a chance though it was probably pushing it.

Good luck to anyone going over.

Next Vic tournament I might look at is something in Geelong in August / September.

Cobalt, you are kidding me. I've moved heaven and earth to go to this tournament (well changing timetables with my ex for my daughter is just as much) because I said I'd come to meet you there, and you said I'd better be there. It may be years before there is this opportunity again, as I don't do tournaments very often.

Sorry Reb but you weren't exactly a lock in last time it was brought up. Just don't think I can do it. Its more than a day trip for me and costs about $500 with accommodation, fuel, entry, meals etc. A bit soon.
