Most people throw their backs out doing something that is perceived as small mundane routine thing. Like picking up a sock, or closing a heavy door, or hanging a picture. IT's because your core isn't engaged automatically, like it does when you're about to pick up a heavy object like a rock or weight.
Hope you have a speedy recovery.
I work in rehab and sports medicine, and recommend you see a PT to strengthen your core. I have 2 bulging discs myself and so long as I keep up with my PT and watch my posture, it's a none issue these days. Tizanadine is usually more effective robaxin if you need a muscle relaxer.
