Haven't seen anything yet. We might have to wait until Killerspin releases it on DVD unless some matches turn up on ESPN. We'll get it eventually and I can't wait.

By the way, I understand world rated #7 Chen Qi chickened out from playing her (came up with some lame excuse). Probably didn't want to risk his reputation by losing to a woman. I guess Chinese men and women don't normally compete against each other?

The only zhang vs men match that killerspin would release is the one vs lupi, as that was the only one played in the invitational and recorded by the tv crew. That match was over pretty quickly. All of the other matches, including the good one against blaszczyk, were played the next day in the open tournament, after the tv crew had packed up and left. I do have a single-camera video of the match against blaszczyk but i don't own it so i won't be posting it. Maybe you'll see it someplace soon.

I received word of chen qi's withdrawal from the open early in the morning before the event had begun, and if he were to play zhang they would have met in the semis. Other people had commented that during the invitational he seemed to have problems with his eyes, and i was told he was playing without his contacts.

Another thing to keep in mind when looking at chen qi: lei zhenhua, who zhang beat in the final, is a very good player with league wins against people like ma lin, wang liqin, ma long, chen qi, etc. He doesn't have a high world ranking because he's only played a couple ittf events in his life, but after a few tournaments and some more international experience, he'd be top 20 material if not top 10.

Its funny my practice partner is a female Taiwanese penholder. The only time I felt bad she was a girl was when I had missed a hard FH loop and left a mark on her leg.

Face is important for Asian, loosing face is no good in general. Men are supposed to be better than women in sports, there is no harm done to the women when they loss a match to a men, but not the other way around, especially when you are a professional.

But Tat, a true professional will have come to terms with the fact that it is their chosen vocation to play whoever they are set against, and therefore will play to the best of their ability. It is very unprofessional to not play in case you lose, even if it is to a woman. It is a natural progression when women and men play against each other in a sport there will be times when men lose to women.

For a professional to decline to play women, when its part of the tournament setup is admitting defeat already, and should be considered just as much loss of face because not only have they "lost" by not playing, but they have also lost by not fulfilling their obligations to the sport, surely? :?

I don't mind losing to a female player, but I am not them, I am just a low rated recreation player who want to hit and play with anybody.

I once lost to an 8 yr old (who is now over USATT 2000), a wheelchair player (1800+), and a woman (2200+) all in the same tourney. Next tourney I did defeat a Dr. Neubauer frictionless LP wheelchair older female player. Guess that places me in the hall of shame with the rest of 'em. I am an ever more poor man's version of Tat who cannot allow a "no clothing requirement" environment and who does not have a TT garage. (Over here at least, I don't. I just have a dusty, cramped redneck trailer.)

This "no clothing requirement has sure brought more than once and I need to clarify that statement to clear my name.

OK, remember one time that Monkey and Law were playing in their long sleeves and pants and encountered a slur of criticism in this forum? When I posted "no clothing requirements", what I meant was you can wear anything you want, not necessarily "No clothes", although I think one practice partner just interpret that on the surface.

Let it to rest, I might have to re-write my rules and regulations to make them perfectly clear.

I uploaded three videos today. Find them at http://ttarmory.com/ttvideo.

Do not try to stream from there. Just right click and save them to your computer. Videos are 720P, 60fps and should open in QuickTime, though older CPUs might stutter due to the quality.

Uploaded clips are:
Mark Hazinski, US rating 2570 vs. Zhang Yining, Women's WR 1 (full match)
Chen Weixing vs. Lei Zhenhua, approx WR 50 and Chinese national practice player (one game)
Chen Weixing vs. Samsonov (full match, sorry for the camera angle and commentary :D)

For Zhang Yining vs. Blasczcyk I must have inadvertently changed a camera setting so the quality is not as good as the rest. I will upload this one to youtube soon because the quality does not justify direct download time.

No Tat, I think your rules are perfectly cool. (That is why I referred to them) Much cooler than I can get away with here. There is no way it would be allowed to wear anything else but an exercise or duty uniform. NOT a knock on you at all.

Thanx for the vid linkx.

Jenders, I thank you very much for getting these videos -- the camera angle in particular makes me feel that I'm part of the audience, and lets me appreciate Zhang Yining's style of play - very simple, quite high-percentage play.

 A new appreciation for the Ladies' WR1!
