I think there were about 28 tables. It wasn't that big of a gym, especially not in comparison with what I've seen at other large tournaments, including this one, in the past. Typically there are at least one or two side barriers; these were obviously tighter than others.

Well, after all those matches and games, the ratings got updated tonight, and through all that I gained a whopping 8 points, from 1661 to 1669. I look at all those 5 game losses and think about how far my rating could have gone up if I'd won those. Sooner or later (hopefully sooner) the breakthrough will come. Maybe this weekend at the state tourney or next month at the team tourney.

Schade. Yet I too, believe you will have an imminent steep assault and ascent up the ratings ladder.

That's what I'm hoping. My guess is that the improvement in consistency with the Palio on the forehand will give me those extra points that I didn't get before.

Just saw my results. Not as bad as I remember. Only two bad losses. Doug saw both because he was one of them. The other ended with a broken paddle. Lost 40 points. Not bad considering what happened. I was really worried about one of my losses because I thought he was about 150 points lower than me. Turns out he was rated about 50 point higher than me. That went 5 games.

Will I go back? Not if its at the same place. The courts are too small. I liked the other place much better. To have to drive 5 hours for a tourney that has that small a court is not worth my time. Its a shame because Coach Seemiller and his crew run a great tourney.

Dont know if I will go to the Teams in Baltimore or the Highland. They are both in November. But I am going to Coach Seemillers clinic in June for 4 days. Very excited about that.

Last weekend, I drove my wife 5 hours somewhere in Texas to visit an old friend. I escaped a couple days later (too bad I had to drive them shopping first!) to the club in Austin, Texas - another hour away. They JUST moved into a new building and that building won't be finished for a weeek or two. Still, that didn't stop a lot of people from playing, even on Easter Sunday. I hit 3 hours. Cool facility. Table Tennis only and looks like they could run 12 tables permanantly separated. Wood flooring, bright lighting everywhere - they could have manageable lighting with even half of what they got.

What is cool is there is acceptable room and decent flooring. I don't think I will drive there real often, but as long as the wife wants to visit friends in Texas, that place is on my list for sure.

Grumpy, I get WAY grumpier than you about over-tight spacing in tourneys. Just annoys the daylights outta me.

A couple of the guys I lost to won so many other matches that their ratings got readjusted, so I didn't lose nearly as many points as I could have, otherwise I would have lost points too. After the state tourney, my next tourney is the Rochester team tourney with mdjenders and a couple of other people from the area. Can't wait for that, it will be a LOT of fun. I'll most likely go to the Highland in November, I always like that one and there's a great steak place in town. MMMMM, steak.

I dont think so. Doug has seen what I can do. Have you ever broke a paddle over your knee in a fit of anger? My count is up to 4.

I've got to give the award to Joe there. I've seen people get grumpy at tournaments due to conditions, but he's the champion. Heck, I've kicked barriers that got in my way, including at this tournament. But busting a paddle? Nope.

Alright, I'll just believe both your testamony. I've gotten a lot better at griping, moaning and generally making an ass outta myself carrying on about it. I still believe I am grumpier, but after seing your posts, certainly not near as furious.
