So it appears that the ITTF decided to step out of the 1990's and into 2016 with a new website layout (still god awful in my opinion)

They are so lazy they haven't even paid for the domain change and the url they are using is new.ittf.com. I would of never known about it if I wasn't casually browsing their front page news section the other day http://ittf.com/_front_page/ittf.asp?category=General

Negative, the August 4th news I believe is related to this website http://www.ttx.world/ but I don't see it confirmed on their site yet.

Why do they come up with something that detracts from real table tennis instead of figuring out how to promote the game we already have? :n:

I suggested making a video to promote table tennis and distribute them to all schools. Ignored.

You and many thousands of others have done the same and have received the same treatment of being ignored. What will it take for the ITTF to come around?

I don't recall the exact layout of the old website, I just remember it was fairly awful and with dated UI. Seems to be the new layout is mobile device friendly as we continue to see the shift of mobile views vs desktop views.

IMO the http://www.ttx.world/ seems to be ITTF's attempt at just making it fun for the casual players. The same fun you had when first playing on the patio or someone's basement before it became so technical. The time constraints is just an easy way to ramp up the intensity and fun factor.

I think that TTX is their way of promoting by creating a casual player stream, and eventually some of those casuals turn into serious TT players like us. They lowered the barrier for entry (based on the pics I saw) with the equipment and rules where it can easily be picked up and played.

Agreed, I can see TTX being introduced into school curriculum easier than the classic TT.

It does not look promising for a new site design. If ITTF sat down got some competent web designers and designed a simple webpage that didn't freeze every ten seconds I would prefer it a lot more than how they do it now. Everything is just thrown at you and navigating through the site is extremely painful and updates are slow. They don't seem to care at all about giving people necessary information on rules, boosting, new changes. On the other hand I see corporate sponsorship all splashed over the page and the positivity of table tennis, like nothing shady is done in the sport. I have no problem with this but when needing the actual information or texts required for a club to use why even put that information online in the first place. Luckily most clubs just go through their state or national board to get information as ITTF does a terrible job at providing resources online. Get your S$$$ together ITTF it's your main site that people need to use to access vital information it cannot be that hard.
