Adham: Not that I know of.

I hate taking part in this thread which serves the ITTF's propoganda machine, but if the blade threat goes ahead, all existing blades should be allowed (if neccessary we can take them in for a stamp) and newly authorised blades should last a lifetime as a blade could. Blades last a lot longer than rubber and the fee structure should allow for that.

I can also think of many more reasons against this new proposal, then for it... So if the proposal goes ahead, and does not address these issues, I'll be the first to suggest we all write to our country's associations...

Sorry, I should have phrased it better. I would like adham to be asked that if the blade authorisation is to go ahead, would it not be better to give a lifetime authorisationa nd charge a fee accordingly.
And
What will happen to existing blades, will we be able to get them stamped at no cost or will the ITTF refund all monies paid at full replacement retail price (reciepits not required) due to the unfair nature of yet another potential retrospective ban (legal now, but not in future = ban).

Let's be realistic: if the ITTF introduce authorisation of blades, we all will have to buy new (authorised) ones. A huge amount of money will be spent by the players.

I think, it is unrealistic to hope, that the ITTF may give a "lifetime authorisation" to the blades. They charge annual fees for authorised rubbers currently just for the rubbers to remain on the list. Although there is no word in the rules (ITTF Handbook) that allows it. No word about temporary authorisation. According to my personal understanding of the ITTF rules, these annual fees are illegal.

I searched and searched but could not find you in the ITTF Handbook, so YOU must be illegal.

Sorry, I could not resist.

I wish all of you all the best this holiday season and a very Happy New Year to one and all.

Adham if you are now going to go to the trouble of replying in this thread, it would be nice if you would choose to address some of the genuine concerns that have been raised.

Hi Adham,

I'm glad to see you here again. A very good move, why bother hagisv with transporting messages to you and from you.

Please, don't forget to comment on the issue about possible illegality of the rule 2.4.7. .

And please, tell us, why you think you guys may collect money from the manufacturers every year just for their/our authorised rubbers to remain on the list. And which rule gives you the right to remove authorised legal rubbers from the list.

And why you think it is technically possible to use a "shaved" blade and umpires don't see it.

Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

Would it be legal to use offcuts from an authorised rubber and glue it around the edge of the bat in place of edge tape?

If so, would you be able to strike the ball with it?

Hi, are you traying to drive Adhammad putting on him so specific and pazzling question? :) Let our Mr.President go alive, Vinnie- This is where you will find all the answers to most common of players' inquiries, and yours included. http://www.usatt.org/rules/stumpump/stump97/08.shtml [div]http://www.usatt.org/rules/stumpump/index.shtml [div]//Igor, national umpire. Thank you.

That MAIN half of my question  hasn't been answered though, which is if would be legal to have the rubber edge tape that most likely wouldn't be a consistant surface. I'd like to see what Adham has to say on it.

TO my own mind, the edge band of any material <b>being over 2 mm thick</b> should be judged as an "additive", not to be allowed anywhere along the blade's perimeter. Any tapes under 2mm thick and attached fast to the blade, should be OK .
