Butterfly have decided to change their distribution policy in France and chose 4 distributors to sell their equipment across the country :

_ one distributor for the southern part of France who will also handle Butterfly's France website (website will open on July 15th). This distributor will not sell Tibhar, Andro and Donic anymore as the brands have decided to work with other people.
_ one for the northern part of France
_ one for the eastern part of France
_ one for the western part of France

Doing such a thing, BTY will be able to control the prices all over the country and avoid having their products discounted by a distributor (outside the sale period we can see during the season).

It's really sad for the customer.... It means that BTY are not going to revise their prices a bit down and also that other manufacturers could decide to do the same and increase their prices so all rubbers are sold almost at the same price....

What do you think about this policy and how does it work in your countries?

Cheers,
Ma'man

I think the policy stinks. In the U.S. there is just one main distributor (Martin Kilpatrick) and they don't even carry Tenergy with a 1.7 sponge.

What idiots! :n:

It truly doesn't make sense... This frustrates me :headbang: , They offer thinner sponge on several products in other countries, why not stock entire line of products for US?? Or just allow us to buy the sponge size we want from another distributor online. I'll never understand it.

Of those I play TT with I know of a few (myself included) that want to try Tenergy but use oversize blade and want thinner sponge, 1.7 (due to weight or just like thinner sponge) but can't get it, so they move on to other rubbers. So Butterfly looses out on at least some sales. I'm sure there are others as well that feel the same. We want to purchase products they make and distribute, but can't. I have to agree MNNB.

All of North America is BLOCKED from using Tenergy 1.7, Sriver 1.3, Super Anti 1.5 and Tackiness Chop 1.1, all products I have previously purchased from overseas vendors.

Butterfly IS STUPID to deprive a whole continent of some of their most interesting rubber configurations. Plus there are a lot of blades available overseas not available in the U.S., like the SK7 Light. Not to mention very few blades available with straight handles.

The people running Martin Kilpatrick are totally clueless when it comes to tactical styles of play.

Surely some international retailer can still ship these products to USA?

They used to do it. I haven't tried to buy any overpriced Butterfly products lately.

All the ones I have tried tell me they are not allowed to per some rule of Butterfly's.

Just pretend Butterfly brand doesn't even exist... Works for me and many of my friends at our club! DHS, Tibhar, Yasaka, Donic, Stiga, Andro, Xiom, Nittaku, Friendship, Giant Dragon, Haifu, Galaxy, Gambler, Juic, Joola, etc. all make great rubbers.

I don't know what you people are complaining about. It's hardly an original idea. there are hundreds of companies that have exclusive regional rights. Asics springs to mind...

That's not a problem if they made their full line available. No Tenergy in 1.7 is just stupid.

Other companies that do this don't make their full line available either.

Look at car manufacturers.

Big difference on import regulations between cars and table tennis rubbers.

I still think it's stupid that one of the world's most popular rubbers is available worldwide in 1.7mm except North America.

Maybe they are trying to tell you something :P

Cars was a convenient example. But you could say the same thing with regards to shoes, watches, phones, etc etc etc.

Butterfly IS Dullard to divest a healthy chaste of both of their most unputdownable latex configurations. Positive there are a lot of blades procurable sea not getable in the U.S., similar the SK7 Feathery. Not to mention real few blades purchasable with aligned handles.
