My Palio #1 is about the same ~6.1mm. Plays like OFF- instead of anything DEF; I was pretty disappointed.

Yes they can easily copy the handle pattern.

I've had that blade for a while but I finally had something to put on it today (1mm sponge 729FX with the large pores). Put 388D-1 (OX) on the other side. Possible that the blade is fast, but the combo's now very slow compared to what I'm used to, and chops are very easy to execute. That long pips on the backhand.. gee, I'd forgotten what those were like, this is difficult. Keep popping up pushes and putting things in the net. I don't plan to start playing as a chopper, but this'll be something fun to bring out once in a while.

OK, the fake Primorac arrived. It weighs 89.56g and is 6.07mm thick (average of six measurements around the edge of the blade). Build quality is no worse than any of the other blades I bought so far bar Yinhe blades (these are a cut above everything else).

The thing I'd like to know is.. how close is this to the actual Butterfly item? I'm sure it'll play fine (it's just heavier than I'd like). I paid slightly more than $12 for it (and the person minding the store was one "Liu Shiwen".. ) so I won't complain if it's nothing like the real Butterfly.

You say the quality is not that of a Yinhe. What exactly could be better. Is it a smooth handle? Butterfly blades generally feel very nice. Specs are pretty close to the real thing 5.7mm, 87 grams.

The Yinhes I've bought so far have mirror-smooth faces. They just FEEL nice. This, like HRT blades I've bought, is just a little rougher. And the blade edges on the Primorac had some minute shavings on it. Nothing serious (or even trivial) really, of no consequence, just not up to Yinhe standards.

If the real thing is 5.7mm thick, this is 5% thicker. I'll get to try it this weekend - time to select the rubber I'll put on it for testing.

Yinhe generally has very good material uniformity at least on par with if not better than Butterfly, and these lesser known chinese factories aren't bad either. Contrast this to Stiga Sweden which patches up completely different grains, has knots, etc on their less than high end models.

If you can't avoid getting a thin swedish blade (Yinhe's slowest blade is ~W6 which is OFF-, and no other chinese brand makes anything slower), get something from Woodhouse like Donic/Yasaka which are at least decent or Stiga's made in china which I've heard are pretty good but expensive.

W6 slower than N11?

I think it is. I have both, the W-6 has been sitting neglected the last 2-3 months and I play with the N-11 all the time now. I have two, ordering a third. N-11 is good for looping but it's GREAT for hitting and hard topspin drives.

If Agenthex's "thinner is slower" rule is correct then the slowest Chinese blade I've come across so far must be the Palio A08. It's only about 5.4mm thick.

I notice that now the Fake Korbel is on sale for $9. I just ordered one. When I ordered the Fake Primorac, I couldn't decide whether I wanted that or whether I wanted a Fake Korbel instead. Now I can have both, for under $21 total. What a deal. I will be reviewing this blade on ooakforum.com - look for the review in a week or so."

Haven't had a chance yet. It is heavy-ish (about the same weight as the HRT 2091 "Clipper"). I'll probably do it tomorrow. I'll pull something out of my dormant sheet Tupperware, or I'll try a sheet of Generic Dragon.

OK. I installed a "new" sheet of Generic Wildish Dragon on one side and 729 on the other side and hit with it a little bit today. It's OK - it plays more or less like other ALL+ to OFF- Chinese blades I have such as the Instinct, about the same as the 2091 - definitely worth the $12 I paid, but it's a mite heavy compared to my usual N11. Like my other blades it's going into the "lend-out pile", and the pile is getting a little large-ish...

The Wildish Dragon topsheet is QUITE tacky, a little tackier than Emperor Dragon or Apollo III. Still can't pick up the ball, though. The only sheets I've ever owned that were that sticky were sheets of 729 from the old old days (in the 1980s).
