I dunno how many ppl got impacted, but ANY SHIPPING done with DHL gets TAXED and CUSTOM TAXED more than 100% of the product's value :'( This happens when shipping to India.


Now what is happening is with DHL box labelled 10 Euros, DHL is asking for Payment Receipt Proof !!! Box says 10 euros but payment is about 100 USD.

And now, Customs office is CHARGING PENALTY + CUSTOMS + LOCAL TAXES !!!!

Why ???

Just use EMS and avoid this MESS!

There is a rule in India that allows for sportspersons to import sports equipment and replacement items. Only EMS honors this. Else all private shipping is treated as if we are unauthorized private importers resellers. :|

DHL can be slow or fast depending on how it is sent, but TT11 got me a DHL to the US in two days with their free shipping. I can't picture EMS doing that.

Shipping to India via EMS is the preferred way rather than using DHL.

There is a kind of scam going on between Private Shipment Couriers like DHL, Fedex, UPS etc where they declare ANY foreign items imported into India for Customs & Excise. Despite Central Government regulations allow for sports category and sports medicine etc by private sports players for which no local purchase is possible. C-pen players like myself can't get C-pen equipment in India unless I am willing to go for international purchases.

When Private Couriers go to Customs & Excise office, a flat customs tax is applied as well as a Non-declaration fine is also added onto the parcel. Now the sports stuff is exempt from the tax and the fine due to the nature of the purchase being exempted by Indian Government.

So, despite having to wait 1 or 2 months via EMS, it is better for people in India to order via EMS.
