Heyy my name is Kush. I am quite new to table tennis but i donot play bad at all. I used to play lawn tennis so i could pick up quite easily.

I generally play at my office where we use thr GKI Euro racket. I am looking forward to buying my own racket and i am confused weather to buy a ready made racket or customise a racket.

For customised racket I have choosen Yasaka Mark V on both side and GKI Jumbo Carbon blade. The blade has Spin - 99 Speed - 99 and Control - 98.
I can also go for Stiga Classic Allrounder blade.
Please suggest if this will work.

Otherwise please suggest a racket.

Sometimes manufacturers dont always tell the truth. :(

Out of 100? Sounds like the perfect blade... :lol:

Seriously, no one outside India has ever seen this brand before. I came across their website some months back:

http://gkitabletennis.com/

I'm wondering if a lot of this stuff isn't OEM'ed in China. All their rubber sheets (the inverted ones, anyway) seem to be ESN Tensors. So if anyone's trying to build a complete collection of Tensors they're probably missing the Indian ones! Prices aren't mentioned, I wonder how cheap (or expensive) this stuff is.

Ever hear of GAS-FILLED table tennis balls????

And Dragon Balls at the bottom of the page... :lol:

Go for Stiga classic allround. Mark V is great choice.

Thanks everyone for replying .
@CARBONMAN
I agree

@iskandar
Gki is pretty famous in here coz its cheap and the company claims the speed/spin/control to be in 95+ range. I can find one blade GKI Jumbo Carbon with S/S/C to be 99/99/98 for like 30$ or 1700 INR. But i am not sure if they are telling truth or not.
About the balls, I have played with these and no doubt that they are pathetic :-)
They make their stuff here in India. I got to know from some one.

@Obi-wan
Thanks..I am almost 99% sure that I will buy the combo but would you suggest me to use one Yasaka Mark V and one other rubber which has more speed?

You do not need faster setup for now.
Best to start with maximum control and that is exactly what you get with Stiga all classic + Mark V.
If you like your setup but think you need something a bit faster, you can put Mark V HPS or Mark V HPS soft. Those are simply faster versions of Mark V and logical upgrades.

Agree Stiga Allround and Mark v would make many new players envious. Go with that for sure.

The rules say you must have one red, one black. Some players say they can notice that a red and black of same rubber can play slightly different but you and me can't notice. Just pick what you want and get one red, one black. I'd suggest 2.0mm.

You've chosen a really nice and really sensible set up, would love to have a hit of it.

Take those numbers with a grain of salt. Everyone who makes blades comes up with their own scale, in this case they give percentages. So if a blade is rated 100, 100, 100 does this mean it's the perfect blade? What happens if you find another blade that has more control or more spin? Kind of silly, isn't it?

USD30 isn't cheap for a blade. Have a look at all the blades listed here:

http://www.aliexpress.com/store/934882

You'll find lots of excellent blades for under $15. And excellent rubber for as little as $5 a sheet. And that includes postage. Don't go crazy comparing blades using numbers, either, you'll find each brand uses a different system.

Those GKI rubbers are actually made in Germany and will likely be quite expensive. (Unless they're fake Tensors.) Please let us know if they're selling for less than $40 a sheet, some of us might want to try them if they're that cheap. The cheapest Tensors otherwise are from Palio, a little under $50 a sheet.

TTNPP has the Palio for somewhat less:

http://ttnpp.com/store/german-style/495 ... any-6.html

I've never used it but presumably it comes off the same ESN assembly line in germany as the rest.

I am taking everything with a pinch of salt these days. I asked you guys coz nobody here is into TT alot. So having asked you guys I feel that I am taking advice from somebody who actually know stuff about TT.
About the numbers, frankly, I am not even sure what the height level of these numbers are.

We donot get Palio here in india. If I could have my hands on the Palio, I wouldn't have been looking for replies here in this post.

Any ways...thanks guys for replying

AliExpress stores should be able to ship to India. The three Eachengs in particular are very fast, but China Post typically takes three weeks to deliver the goods. The parcels ARE tracked, so if your post office has a habit of "losing" parcels (as ours has) this prevents loss (haven't lost one package yet).

ttnpp's prices are lower but don't include shipping. On high dollar items like Tensors the shipping is less as a percentage of the item's price, of course, so it might be a good deal. I ordered from them last month, though, and it took over a month before they actually shipped, and another three weeks before the shipment arrived. No replies to my emails either.
