Sorry. Would one bet on Ma long to win. Or take a bet that anybody else would win the gold.

Right. It would depend on who's included in "anybody else". If Xu Xin or Fan Zhendong were in there...

Is Chtchetinine in the field? He would own MA Long if he choses.

You guys are right we really need to see what players other countries are sending. Fan and xu are in already. On any given day either they or zhang jike could take down Ma long. Don't see he's lost to too many other players lately though.

Because he does not care about winning, he cares about the aesthetics of the game!

Zhang Jike is the only one barring a sever crack under pressure, illness or kidnapping. Even on their best day no one touches Ma long on his average day.

In CNT Olympic Training video focused on Ma Long, Jike was his sparring partner. It looked even to me.

More than likely we'll end up seeing Ma beating Quadri Aruna, then on to the winner of the Freitas/Mizutani game where I think the likely pick is Mizutani. Upset there is possible. Either way I don't think anyone sees Ma losing to either of those people. And then it's on to a gold medal match between him and Jike like everyone expected. That's if Ovtcharov doesn't beat Jike in an upset of backhands.

The real question is who the hell is winning bronze.

It's a shame Samsonov and Ovtcharov have to knock each other out if they make it to top 8. Both of them looking vulnerable, though. Ovtcharov barely snuck past Li Ping in a close 11-9 game. Game went the distance. Timo looked old and tired in all his games.

Long crushes. Wins gold. I've not seen the match though

In the semis I think liu told him to throw a game.
