A friend of mine is an single-sided Chinese penholder, he was using a bat with two inverted and he thought it was too thick. He has tried using LP OX on backhand but he feeled uncomfortable. What should he put on the backside?a red sponge? or should he just paint that side of the blade in red? or if anyone can suggest an ultra thin&light inverted that will be fine as well, cheers!

If he never uses the backside to hit, then a color sheet can be placed on this non-hitting side.
It is cheap (like a cup of coffee, say).
It is thin and light so it won't alter the feel and weight of the blade, and it is easy to remove.
If he smashes with it sometimes (and doesn't like the bumpy feel of pips on the fingers), then maybe use inverted like Mark V? light and durable, needing little maintenance.

Where can I buy a colour sheet? Will it be easily removed after you glue it onto the blade?

Online TT stores should carry these colour sheets but I don't know where if you are in the UK.
If one is just practising and not playing in a tournament, I don't think other players will mind if the back of your friend's blade is bare.
I don't have enough experience with them. But they should be easy to be removed from the blade. They are self-adhering, I think.

As long as the blade is well sealed, then it is very easy to remove the colored paper. This is useful because he can change the color between red or black depending on what colored rubber he uses for the FH.

You can get them here: http://www.presports.com/racquet-backin ... p-457.html

If he wants to use a piece of rubber, then Dr. Evil which is an OX short pip would be good. It is light and fingers placed on the rubber is not uncomfortable like lp.
