I want to upgrade my Cpen game.
I want a faster, thinner and lighter blade (Im actually using DHS 032, which I find slow and heavy)

I have the option of buying either:
DHS Hurricane Hao (US$ 55)
Yasaka Gatien Extra (US$ 40)
Galaxy U4 (US$ 18)

Any thoughts?
Im buying them at www.ttnpp.com
Along with 2 rubbers.

DHS HHao even at $55 is not worth the price tag as there is a cheaper and just-as-good alternative like below, so may as well save those bucks for better rubbers.

I am afraid the Yasaka Gatien Extra lacks firepower in the post-glue era. Consider the Yasaka Ma Lin Extra Offensive(YEO) (US$ 43). For just a few bucks more, it will last you much longer.

Galaxy U4 is an imitation of the Stiga AC WRB you have in your signature and suffers the same issue as the Gatien Extra. Given your generous budget, I would suggest against it.

I quite liked the HH. Nothing wrong with it and it's faster than the YE and U4.

Otherwise have a look at the yasaka ma lin extra off (MEO). (or those noobs over on mytt call it YEO for some reason. I don't understand why. It's listed in the yasaka catalog as MEO. Also MEO makes far more sense.)

Also you can get cpen korbels. Those are nice.

If you like looping & RPB why don't try out stiga OC  no good for blocking though

Darn, I forgot to say that I use traditional block and push, while I use RPB, and I tend to be a two winged looper.
I´ll take a look at MEO, but, just to say, how much faster it is, lets say, compared to Korvel?
Also, I would be using Neo Hurricane 3 in forehand and maybe Memo 3 or Inspirit Quatro AL SV in backhand.

And regarding budget, I know its generous, you dont even know half of it, in Argentina, the rate is $4 Pesos = US$1 >_< So any cheaper option is welcome :D

Cheers ^^

MEO is quite fast as a 5-ply, so it should be a bit faster than Korvel... wait I think you mean Korbel :^)

I think Skyline series are actually better for penhold, although DHS never admits that Skyline is designed for penhold player(Ma Lin uses Skyline II & Wang Hao uses Skyline III, and from what I know, they are the only two prof. players that use skyline series)

Really? How so? I tried Neo H3 and it was sweeter than honey ^^
Yeah I meant Korbel :P

May I suggest Galaxy U-6 or M-6, as faster alternatives?

U-6 is supposed to be a faster version of M-6...
M-6 is a 7ply, supposed Clipper clone but not as fast.

i found stiga tube allround with DHS H3( this rubber was bought over 4 years ago) on forehand and stiga magna on backhand quite easy to use, especially on the FH, as the Magna rubber is quite old and worn not much spin but easy enough to control RPB. as for the FH low and fast loops/ topspin are easily manageable. the the combination with the blade creates very versatile and extremely controllable weapon ( on the FH at least not exactly happy with magna on the BH)

heres a short clip of it

interesting... I assume this was made from a shakehand blade? Why did you decide to file the front all the way down? Also did you intend to make the handle that short? It looks like it's about half the length of a regular pen blade (cpens are 80mm, shakehand are ~100mm)

Post subject:  Re: Going FTW?

you are spot on it "was" a shakehand blade. the handle about 6cm long depending on where it was measured from part of the upper handle was filed down/removed ( red/black wood) and replaced with the " triangle " to immitate Jpen blades, somewhat ( i was sawing/filing... it was all done anatomically to fit my hand)..
over all length is 21.2 cm measured down the middle

yes the short handle was intended for it to be as short as possible for reasons :
(1) reduce as much weight thus reducing stress on the fingers/wrist
(2) to unbalance the dynamics of the blade simply making it top heavy = greater centrifugal force = greater speed of the
ball after hitting it( spin as well ) allowing for those low fast loops, for the most part ( a bit of physics from a 3rd year mechanical engineer  )
(3) the shorter handle is less annoying, at least to me it is

there are move videos that ill post later, when they upload on youtube :P gonna take a while all vids are 1080p, and sorry for the poor lighting two of the bulbs blew the other day during a storm, bloody Irish weather
