I'm right handed penholder and I usually play with a friend that is a left handed shakehand grip....

and... these games are really frustrating for me..... I don't use backhand so hitting on the left side of the table is a bit harder for me using forehand.

my opponent often gets on my weak side everytime....

what should I do?

How about using this as an opportunity to develop a backhand? The reality is you're always going to come up against people who will exploit your weaknesses, therefore... develop a blocking game in front of your body and learn how to play back down the line rather than cross-court.

There are some good PH videos you can look at:

viewforum.php?f=36

BTW, just don't learn it from the Pingskills guys when it comes to penhold.

The video is not bad and the explanation is good.
The grip for CPen is a bit odd for a beginner to learn. The index finger is a bit too straight and too close to the middle of the blade. I was taught to use the tip of the index finger to adjust the angle of the blade when doing a traditional backhand. There are other better videos but they are either in Chinese or Korean. I find the videos by Coach Tang quite good but they are SH+PH and in Chinese.
Google 唐建軍 (Coach Tang) and there are lots of instructional videos.

No, I don't think so. Can you read Chinese (traditional)?
Kim Taek Soo has an excellent instructional series with 6-7 videos. It is Korean and with Japanese and Chinese subtitles. Here is the first video:

If you understand Cantonese, you can probably understand enough Mandarin if you listen carefully. The instructional videos by Guo Yuehua, Cao Yanhua, and Coach Tang, etc. are very good if you understand a bit of Mandarin. Just google their Chinese names (or go baidu.com).

tryouts are only for people trying to insert themselves into higher grade fixtures/pennant/whatever.
