im a jpen holder on a cpen blade with 3 fingers stretched straight out on the backside for support.... and after a while the fingers at the back start hurting and get all stiff

this affects my performance slightly

it feels more controlled when i provide good support to the back of the blade

But then you will get the pain, and you have to do something about it. Either relax your fingers or curl them.
