Blade: Darker Speed 90 Jpen
FH: Dawei Inspirit Quattro UL
I used to play as a penhold chopper, until I realised that I was missing out on the incredible attacking potential of the grip. The advantage though is that now I have an added weapon, the chop, and most opponents don't expect that from a penholder. Anyway, I used to use a Matsushita blade and it worked well for me.

Yes, shortening the handle is certainly legal, which means, for chinese penhold, anyway, you could buy ANY shakehand blade for it (well, those donic dotec ones might be awkward). Certainly there are more SH DEF blades than there are CPEN DEF blades. And if it has a plastic inlay, just saw through, if need be....it's not deep and the saw goes through it nicely (kinda worried when I did this once). So, yeah, saw away! There is nowhere in the rulebook that says you can't....good luck! :)

like i did with mine :P http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qV8W1t7OsJ4

How does it play after the change? Did you notice any imbalance or have a different feel?

I am currently looking for a slower blade replacement for my friendship c-1, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Unquestionably the slowest pen hold I have seen/used have come from the workshop of Ross Leidy, master, custom, bladesmith from Cleveland, Ohio. Just ask for the U-S-B model (Ultra-Slow-Blade) in pen hold. http://rossleidy.com/galleries/blades/index.html

You can get c-pen, J/K or a custom that will be a genuine example of custom wood worker's art as well play wonderfully.
