Hi, i am having alot of truble serving. My second bounce just makes it over the table but really close to the edge, how can i make sure the 2nd bounce is on the table and short?
Also please give me other tip and corkscrew/reverse/fast/spin etc.. serves on how to do them.
Thanks

you might be hitting the ball when its still to high, let it drop more, i guess, use less foreward action consentrate on yousing your wrist more..

if you give as clip of you serving it would be easier to determine what is going wrong for you

Try two things for shorter serves:

1 - dont hit the ball into the table. Hit the ball into the air and let the ball 'skim' (if that makes sense). In this way you can generate a lot of spin and still keep the ball short.

2 - aim to hit the ball reasonably close to the net on your side.

what carboman said.. if you watch Ma Lins ghost serve, it should give you an idea.

this should give some hints
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8advrudYZs ( ma lin doing gods work)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEhLzWUvSOA step by step( shakehand) but the same applies

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEhLzWUvSOA ( some kid , shows how flat the bat is to the table, and the general stroke)

It seems even Wang Hao had problems with point 1:

with the way he serves its a different story.. the general trajectory when a ball is hit into the table is that it goes higher and longer.. but when WH does it he doesnt use much downforce on the ball to go into the table he uses more spin. also he doesnt hit the ball from the top ,he scoops it from the side..

Yeah, I know he didn't really have problems with his serve, I mean, he's Wang Hao. But I liked the difference between his serve and Liu Guoliang's serve. I thought it would be relevant for this thread :)

he hast really used that serve in recent games i dont think...

probably cos the return if pushed seems to go to the bh with spin that will make the ball kick to the right.. unless im doing it wrong
