No one would give a crap in Korea, but in USA, an opponent would call the tourney in charge dude over for a look-see and make you come up with a different bat if it waz a sanctioned tourney.

For what reason ?
According to this article the Cork must actually be considered as part of the handle.
"2.04.04 The covering material shall extend up to but not beyond the limits of the blade, except that the part nearest the handle and gripped by the fingers may be left uncovered or covered with any material."

I found these messages on another forum.

Does gluing a sheet of rubber on the reverse side of the JPen (without removal of the black paint) make the JPen blade Illegal.... for use in say USATT sanctioned tournaments....

If it is legal, does the non removal of "black paint" have any effect on the blade (playing characteristic)

thanks

It's perfectly legal to do so. However,

1. Make sure the signage (ITTF stamp/brand name) of the rubber is fully visible, unaltered, and undamaged.
2. You might want to reduce the semicircular corksheet down a bit. Making it the same height as the corksheet on front blade face is preferred.
3. Otherwise, just remove some part of the semicircular corksheet making it straight/flat across the blade. Some people like it this way because it makes the RPB rubber lighter.
4. No removing the paintsheet would make affixing the rubber a bit tricky. Just lightly sand it would make the glue job easier.

It would be legal if the ITTF logo and marking are clearly shown on the black rubber.

It would also be legal if you did not use the black side.

Butterfly doesn't sell that "Pecular" rubber any more, do they? That one had a ID strip that was semi-circular to fit around the cork on the back side of a Japanese penhold blade.
